Chinese traditional furniture has a long history and has developed over thousands of years. It reached its peak in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and was a precious cultural heritage of the Chinese nation. It plays an important role in the history of world furniture.This exhibition displays about 200 pieces of excellent furnitures, related collections and reference data collected by the Guangdong Museum and the Palace Museum. The four chapters of Guangfu style, court style, overseas trade style and craft materials of Guangzuo furniture reproduce the glorious history of Guangzhuo .Guangfu furniture inherits characteristics of Ming style furniture,while also being a typical representative of Qing style furniture.Its production was centralized in Guangzhou and became widespread over the Guangfu area.The chief material for Guangfu furniture is hardwood,to produce a variety of lacquered wood furniture.It is therefore,clearly,an important chapter in the history of Chinese traditional furniture.The long term accumulate workmanship and exquisite craftmanship had contributed to the flourishing of Guangfu furniture. With its excellent materials, diverse styles, gorgeous decoration and exquisite craftsmanship, Guangfu furniture was once favored by royal families and wealthy merchants, and exported extensively overseas. It has become a trademark of the open and innovative Guangfu culture.
